I pressed Ministers on 'fleecehold,' urging protection for 200,000 homeowners trapped in costly private estate maintenance contracts. The term is used to describe the plight of freehold homeowners on new build estates locked into maintenance contracts for communal areas.
I've met hundreds of affected residents in Bridlington & The Wolds and held productive public meetings in Driffield to hear their experiences with property developers.
This freehold issue must be tackled separately from the general issue of leasehold reform, and I'll continue to raise this with Ministers in the Housing Department.
