I’ve been contacted by a number of Driffield residents and business owners who are concerned about the disruption at the Cattle Market car park. Large sections are already fenced off and further closures are planned, all before a replacement car park is in place.
A key condition of the supermarket planning approval was that no work should begin on the existing car park until an alternative was completed and operational – which clearly hasn’t happened.
I’ve written to the Head of Planning at East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ask for a clear explanation of what work is being carried out, to find out if planning conditions have been breached, and to ask what steps are being taken to support local people and businesses throughout this disruption.
I’ll continue to make representations on behalf of local people. If you’ve been affected, please get in touch with me by emailing: [email protected]
