In Parliament last month I chaired a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea alongside Field Marshal, The Lord Houghton.
The group welcomed speakers from the Centre for Asia Pacific Strategy (CAPS), including Ms. Hee-Eun Kim (President of CAPS), US Army Colonel David Maxwell (Vice President CAPS), and Dr. Thomas Schäfer, former German Ambassador to the DPRK. We were joined by a multitude of other experts and enjoyed an excellent debate on what the future holds for relations between North Korea and the UK and our allies.
I visited North Korea in 2017 and saw first-hand the challenges we face from a regime that rarely engages with the outside world.
