Local Member of Parliament, Charlie Dewhirst, has announced the winners of his first Pub of the Year competition, following over 1,200 nominations from residents across Bridlington, Driffield, Market Weighton, Hornsea and The Wolds.

The competition aimed to celebrate the pubs at the heart of our local community – recognising the important role they play in bringing people together, supporting local jobs, and contributing to the rural and coastal economy.

There was an enthusiastic and response from people across the constituency, all keen to celebrate their favourite pub. The winners in each category are as follows:

  • Best High Street Pub – The Butchers Dog, Driffield
  • Best Rural Pub – The Goodmanham Arms, Goodmanham
  • Best Pub Grub – The Goodmanham Arms, Goodmanham
  • Best Beer Garden – The Gait Inn, Millington
  • Best Live Entertainment – The Butchers Dog, Driffield
  • Best Staff and Service – The Goodmanham Arms, Goodmanham

With nominations across multiple categories, The Goodmanham Arms was named overall Pub of the Year 2025!

Charlie Dewhirst MP said:

‘I am absolutely delighted by the hugely enthusiastic response to this competition, and the care people have shown for their local pubs. It is clear how important these places are to our local towns and villages – not only as businesses, but as community hubs too.

The Goodmanham Arms is a brilliant overall winner, and I’d like to congratulate all the category winners and nominees. At a time when the hospitality sector continues to face real pressures from rising costs, taxes and regulation, it has been fantastic to be able to shine a positive light on the brilliant pubs we have locally.’

Charlie added that he would continue to raise issues affecting pubs and hospitality businesses in Parliament, while encouraging residents to keep supporting their local establishments.
