Charlie Dewhirst, Member of Parliament for Bridlington and The Wolds, has this week launched his inaugural Local Pub of the Year competition, giving residents across Bridlington, Driffield, Market Weighton, Hornsea and The Wolds the chance to celebrate and highlight their favourite pubs.
Charlie aims to shine a spotlight on the fantastic pubs that are at the heart of our towns and villages, recognising the crucial role they play in our communities – from providing local jobs and supporting our local economy, to bringing people together.
The competition comes at a time when the hospitality sector is facing increasing pressure from Government tax increases and regulations. While Charlie Dewhirst MP continues to fight for pubs in Parliament, this is also an opportunity to celebrate them closer to home.
Voters can nominate their favourite pubs across the following categories: Best High Street Pub, Best Rural Pub, Best Pub Grub, Best Beer Garden, Best Pub Live Entertainment, and Best Staff and Service. All responses will also be counted towards the overall title of Pub of the Year 2025.
Charlie Dewhirst MP said:
“We are fortunate to have so many brilliant pubs in our local area, each with their own merits and benefit to our community. This competition is a chance to celebrate them, recognise their contributions, and provide well-deserved promotion.
During such a difficult period for the hospitality industry, I hope this will prove to be a good opportunity to show our appreciation for the pubs at the heart of our communities.”
Anyone can submit a nomination – whether a customer, staff member, or even the pub itself. Voting is now open, simply visit www.charliedewhirst.uk/puboftheyear25. The deadline for entries is Friday 31st October 2025, with winners to be announced shortly afterwards.
