Thank you to the over 1,200 local residents who have already signed my petition against the deeply concerning plans to close the Bridlington Care Unit from this summer.
Today I raised this in Parliament, asking the Leader of the House of Commons – the Government’s representative in the House of Commons, responsible for motions and debates – to allocate time for MPs to debate coastal health services.
While he did not, the Minister did emphasise the importance of people making their voices heard, so do sign my petition if you agree and haven’t already done so: https://www.charliedewhirst.uk/bridhospital
This is just the next step, I’m meeting NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board tomorrow, and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust next week, to voice my objections.
I’ll continue to make the case, including on ITV News Calendar later today.
Plus I’ll be presenting the completed petition to the Government next month, so do help me show the strength of local feeling!
