In the Commons earlier today, I raised my concerns about the ecological impact from the vessel collision in the North Sea, east of Withernsea.
Our coastline is a national treasure – we have the largest seabird colony in Britain at Bempton and Flamborough, the largest shellfish landing port in the UK at Bridlington, and around five million visitors to our beaches from Bridlington to Hornsea. It’s crucial that every effort is made to protect the East Yorkshire coastline from pollution.
A huge thank you to all who have been helping with the rescue operation, and my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the missing sailor.
