Following last month’s fantastic turnout from local parents, ERYC and leading charities at my SEND Support Fair, I’ve kept up the pressure on this in Parliament.
I remain deeply aware of the challenges facing parents across Bridlington, Driffield, Hornsea, Market Weighton and The Wolds as a result of our area being the lowest-funded per pupil for children with special educational needs and disabilities, so I again urged the Minister to correct this.
As well as highlighting the vagueness of EHCP drafting – if, of course, parents can obtain one in a timely manner – I also asked the Minister to ensure that the journey for parents is easier, less challenging and less adversarial, to avoid wherever possible long-term problems leading to further issues in adulthood needing a journey of never-ending care.
I have a meeting with the Minister to discuss our local situation in more detail shortly, so I will keep you updated.
