Last week was UK Parliament Week, where children across our local area learn more about how Parliament works, why it matters, and how everyone can play a part in our democracy.
25 local groups took part this year, including Driffield Church of England Infants School where they practiced voting in their classrooms - on which story to listen to at story time, which snacks to eat and which song to sing during Worship time!
They rounded off their week by voting on a special end-of-week treat to celebrate what they learned. The Year 2 School Ambassadors came up with suggestions for the treat and voted to narrow it down to a shortlist of three choices. The children and staff then posted their votes in a ballot box to decide whether to have party games, a film or an ice cream. The votes were counted, and they all enjoyed an ice cream to end the week!
It's great to see local children learning about Parliament and building their confidence to get involved.
